Topshop: Sister of the New Moon Collection

After a quick browse around Topshop, the make up counter caught my eye with a collection I'd been wanting to try - Sisters of the New Moon!

The first product I'd decided to buy was the Magical Lip Tint in Crystal, £9.

In the tube, the lipstick looks very sheer and glittery, almost like it's one of those fake plastic ones you played with when you were little (or was that just me?), I love that about it! From the swatch you can see it leaves a very pale pink shimmer which made me think it wouldn't leave much pigmentation on my lips.. but was I wrong!

It leaves the prettiest, most subtle pink stain on your lips. I wore it for work today and didn't have to reapply! (Which I was thankful for - I'd forgotten my make up bag..) You can build the colour up to become a darker shade by applying more, which would make the colour suitable for a night out too! The lipstick itself feels quite moisturising, more like a balm than a lipstick!

The second product I decided to try was a bit of a strange choice for me - the Lash Catcher Mascara, £10!

I have THE shortest, thinnest, straightest eyelashes known to man, and no matter what I try to do with them I can't make them look longer! Therefore I tend to stick to my usual No. 7 mascara as I've given up on products that promise to lengthen and volumise lashes. So when I decided to buy this product I actually shocked myself, I hadn't even checked to see what the brush was like!
I was relieved to discover it was a bristle brush as the plasticky ones just don't work with me!
The brush collected quite a bit of excess mascara and the tip which needed to be wiped off, and when I put it on my lashes I ended up with mascara all over my eyelid! But maybe I just wasn't used to the new brush.

My left eye is with one coat of the mascara, and my right with no coats at all (see what I mean about my lashes?) - look at the difference! For a start my lashes are actually visible, and they look longer than with my usual mascara! I didn't curl my lashes before I put this mascara on, so if I try curling them first maybe they'd be even longer! Overall, I am really pleased I decided to purchase this mascara, I love the overall result of my lashes. Unfortunately it's limited edition so I may have to purchase some more!

Have you tried anything from this new collection?

TopShop NewGen 10 Tees

Topshop have recently launched a collection called NewGen 10 Tees, to celebrate 10 years of supporting young British talent. 20 past NewGen participants have designed limited edition t-shirts for the collection, and £7 from each full priced item will go to the charity Centrepoint, which gives helps give young homeless people a better future! Here are a few of the limited edition tees:

Photo Sequin Tee by Ashish - £30 - x

It took me a while to realise this t-shirt wasn't actually covered in sequins! And now I've looked at it again, I wish I'd ordered this t-shirt as well as the one I did order! I love wearing sequins but they always scratch me too much - this is the perfect solution! Ashish's S/S 12 collection was bursting to the seams with sequins (as well as bright colours and amazing prints!) so it makes sense that he's designed a sequin print t-shirt! Look out for a new Ashish for Topshop collection later in 2012 too!

Floral Print Tee by J. W. Anderson - £30 - x

This is the t-shirt that I did order, florals just really appeal to me right now! I love the colours in this top and I think it will be perfect for spring and summer! I plan to wear this with a clashing printed skirt, I think it would look amazing! It can also be dressed down really easily too - when I'm feeling lazy I love to pair prints with black skinnies and a black leather jacket.
Anderson is great at designing stylish pieces for both male and female, with the idea that the pieces can be transferable between either gender - such a great idea!

Edit: This t-shirt is now sold out online, sorry! :(
Also, mine arrived and the quality of the shirt feels amazing! So soft and comfortable! Unfortunately, with mine, because the pattern is printed on to the shirt, underneath the armpits there are a few white creases where the print didn't transfer on to the shirt..

Mirror Disk Tee by Christopher Kane - £30 - x

This is such a simple tee, you'd really struggle to not be able to make it look good with anything! I love the mirror embellishment around the neck, adding a bit of bling without actually having to wear any! Christopher Kane has created amazing collections for Topshop before, and has worked with Giles Deacon and Donatella Versace!

Have you purchased one of the NewGen 10 tees, or have you already?

Revlon Lip Butters ColorBurst!

I have been reading loads of positive reviews (e.g. this one by my favourite blogger Fleur De Force!) about the new Revlon Lip Butters, soon to be released in the UK!

The basic aim of this product is to not only add a splash of colour to your lips but to moisturise at the same time! The formulation contains mango, shea and coconut butter, and according to Revlon will hydrate your lips by 156%, amazing! And with a choice of 14 shades, I'm sure there will be a colour for everybody!
There is currently a waiting list on boots.com to be the first to know when the Lip Butters are stocked - this can be found here.
I'm very excited about this product as I love lip colours, but find my lips become dried out really easily and have to constantly moisturise them!

Who can resist a product modelled by the beautiful Emma Stone anyway?!
Will you be purchasing one of the Lip Butters?

Review: Paul & Joe Make Up

Hey everyone! This week I was amazed to see that Paul & Joe had created a new cat collection make up range (to celebrate their 10 year anniversary), and being a huge cat lover, I definitely had to purchase some of this! I was tempted by the powder and the lipstick, but unfortunately couldn't afford to buy all of it, and I had my heart set on the cute blusher sticks (who can resist a cat in a top hat, seriously?!) I bought the blusher stick from ASOS for £21!

How cute is the packaging! I really don't want to get rid of this box! I also love the case of the blusher, it's elegant and sleek but unfortunately not cat related which would be amazing!

This blusher actually looks too good to use, to get a swatch I used the back of the cats head, to try and preserve the face. I will have to use it eventually though :( Maybe buying two would be a good idea!

Paul & Joe Cat Collection Blusher Stick in 002 Minou

I am admittedly rubbish at taking swatches, but you can tell here that it's a lot sheerer and paler on the skin than it looks on the stick, which is good if you don't like a lot of blusher on your cheeks. And if you do, you can just layer it up! The application was very much like a lipstick, which I thought was great! One swipe and then smudge it a bit, so easy!

Has anyone else tried this blusher?

Fragrance: Georgio Armani Idole d'Armani

I'm not usually the kind of person to try new scents, as I tend to stick to ones I know (Burberry Weekend, Miss Dior Cherie, DKNY Be Delicious Fresh Blossom), but I got bought this as a birthday present and now wear it everyday! First of all, I love the bottle! It's elegant, simple, classic and definitely one I wouldn't be ashamed of keeping on display.
Idole d'Armani - £25.33/30ml + £34.66/50ml (from Boots)

I have read a few reviews of this perfume stating that they wouldn't recommend this perfume to younger people, under 25 for example. Well, I'm (a young) 22 and I disagree completely! It depends solely on the person. Personally, I often switch between sophisticated and sweet perfumes depending on the occasion, and this would be under the sophisticated category!

I've seen this scent being described as oriental floral many times, and I would agree, with top notes such as clementine, pear and ginger, middle notes such as saffron and egyptian jasmine, and base notes such as patchouli.

When I first smelt the perfume I immediately knew it would be one of my favourites, but as it settled into my skin I liked it even more! It smells fresh at first but then somehow becomes deeper and spicier.

For me, the lasting power isn't brilliant, but then again I haven't managed to find a perfume that I can detect all day long! Maybe it's just me.
I would definitely recommend this perfume to people who love floral scents, but like to smell sophisticated rather that sickly sweet.

Lush: Lip Therapy

One of my main winter beauty treatments has been Lush's lip treatments: the Bubblegum Lip Scrub and Honey Trap Lip Balm.
During the winter months my lips are really bad for becoming dry, chapped and cracked so these products are perfect for treating them!

Bubblegum Lip Scrub - £4.95 - x

So £4.95 for a lib scrub, to me, seems a little on the dear side, but the bubblegum scent and taste of this product, and the fact that it's Lush and is all homemade with quality ingredients makes it seem reasonable. Especially with the fact that I use it everyday!
To use, all you do is put a little on your finger, and rub it gently on to your lips, then just lick it off and enjoy the flavour and soft lips! Good enough to eat.

Honey Trap Lip Balm - £5.25 - x

This is the most amazing lip balm I have ever tried, and believe me, I've tried a few in my time! With ingredients such as oat milk, beeswax, white chocolate (!) and shea butter, you can guarantee it will have amazing effects. It's so worth the price, as it smells heavenly, has a great moisturising effect, tastes slightly pepperminty and, for me, makes my lips tingle as if it's plumping them up!
I've been using this lipgloss pretty much all day everyday since I bought it a few weeks ago, and I've only just made a small dint in it! You only need a tiny bit on your finger to cover your lips, so it won't run out anytime soon!

Today's Outfit!

So I don't usually get to make much of an effort with my outfits during the week as I work at 7 in the morning in a freezing cold office block, but today I have the day off (due to a driving test which got cancelled :( boo). But anyway, this is what I chose to wear today. Also, sorry for the poor photo quality - both of my cameras had run out of battery so my iPhone had to make do!

New Look Grey Dipped Hem T-Shirt Dress - x
New Look Cropped Sleeve Leather Look Jacket
Black Tights
Burberry Checked Scarf
Topshop Black VECTRA3 Studded Slippers - x

I'd had my eye on the grey t-shirt dress from Topshop, when I spotted this very similar t-shirt dress from New Look for less, and in my opinion it's a little more flattering, and I love the dipped hem at the back! The studded slippers are my favourite shoes at the moment, I have them in both colours! I think I was incredibly lucky to find these in a size 6 because they sold out so quick!

This is the nail polish I was wearing, Model's Own Blooboo - x

Here is a picture of me! I chose a middle parting for a change AND made the crazy decision to draw on my eyebrows. What do you think?
