Wishlist: Jewellery Edition

Hey everyone! Just another quick post featuring some of my most wanted jewellery items this week. I love looking at cute, independent handmade jewellery stores (and ASOS, who can resist ASOS?!) so I thought I'd feature a few and maybe show you some new online shops you didn't know about before. Maybe?

Bear and Mojo is such a cute jewellery brand, established in Manchester 2012 that sell stand out pieces of jewellery designed to help you make an impact and accessorise that outfit perfectly. As an added cute bonus each package is lovingly hand wrapped just for you! They also have their own blog, right here on Blogger too. Check out their selection of rings, there are some great pieces at prices that definitely won't hurt your bank balance.

Jewellery By Jaymie is an online store that sells very unique handmade/drawn pieces of jewellery, like nothing I've seen before. Jaymie is an illustrator and turns her kooky illustrations into amazing jewellery pieces. Expect to see fashion icons such as the Chanel 2.55 bag, Chanel No. 5 perfume, cute animals such as foxes and cats and famous icons such as Audrey Hepburn and Dorothy from The Wizard of Oz. You won't see anything else like this elsewhere, so your piece will be very unique.

This Charming Girl is a website launched by a Scottish designer and sells vintage and contemporary pieces of jewellery - ranging from necklaces and earrings to brooches and rings at great prices. If you love cute, whimsical jewellery featuring wildlife, lovehearts or bows then this is the shop for you.

Mini Mac Haul: Lipstick, Holiday and Glamour Daze

Hellooo everyone! I am a sucker for a limited edition Mac collection, and their latest holiday collection is no exception. As soon as I saw it on their website I knew I was going to have to order a few things. I chose one of the Glamour Daze lipsticks: Innocence, a Fabulousness eye shadow palette in neutrals (turquoise) and a core collection lipstick: Snob. My sister also purchased a Fabulousness eye shadow palette in the smoky eyes shades (pink) which I thought I'd also feature.

I LOVE the cute packaging of the eye shadow palettes - so chic and feminine but I'm so paranoid about getting the satin-like fabric on the front covered in make up! I love the range of colours in each palette - the neutrals being different shades of brown, cream, grey and even turquoise. There are a mixture of matte and metallic finishes so there's a good variety of different eyeshadows to suit all preferences. I'd say this palette was slightly more wearable for me, personally, than the palette for smoky eyes. The pink palette contains shades of pink, a purple, a brown and a grey and I love the neutral colours but I just don't think pink eyeshadows look brilliant on me - but then again I'm not adventurous with my eyeshadow at all. Again, the palette is a mixture of both matte and metallic eyeshadows and all are highly pigmented and feel great quality. You can buy the palettes here for £32, for such cute packaging containing five great quality eyeshadows I'd say it's worth it - it would make a cuuute Christmas present  for a friend or sister too!

I think I rushed into the decision of buying the Innocence lipstick from the Glamour Daze collection as  I foolishly didn't check which finish the lipstick was. I usually prefer Cremesheen or Amplified, but Innocence is a Frost finish. I've never tried a Frost lipstick before but the things I have heard about them haven't been brilliant (apologies if you love Frost!). Anyway, I ordered this lipstick without checking out the finish because I really liked the colour! It reminds me a little of Topshop's Whimsical lipstick, but maybe a little more on the pinker side. It does have bits of shimmer in it and it's not as moisturising or pigmented as other lipsticks I prefer (check out the swatches of Snob to compare - that's a Satin finish). I do like the shade though and I think it still looks quite natural so maybe it would look great with a smoky eye. I will definitely get my wear out of it. Snob is a very pale pink, a little bit like Topshop's Innocent but a little less wearable? If you get what I mean. Sometimes I think it suits me and sometimes I think it washes me out a little bit. It's very smooth and moisturising on the lips, and extremely pigmented. I'd have a look at it in store before making a decision about buying it. You can buy Innocence here for £15.50 and Snob here for £14.

Review: Maybelline Fit Me Foundation

Hey everyone. I recently decided that my current foundation shade was a little too dark for my winter skin and went out to buy a lighter shade. I usually go for the Rimmel Wake Me Up foundation but I saw an advert for the Maybelline Fit Me foundation in my magazine and decided to give it a try. I matched the shade up with the back of my hand (I know you're not supposed to but that method hasn't failed me so far!) and figured that the lightest shade (115) would suit me fine. I wouldn't usually class myself as having really pale skin so if you are really pale I don't think this foundation will be for you.
Maybelline have tried to make matching your shade to you skin tone a little easier, by a sort of step-by-step guide. They've sorted their shades into different numbers; 100s - fair skin, 200s - medium skin and 300s - dark skin. After you know which number your shade will begin with they then ask whether your skin has a yellow or a pink undertone. I wasn't really sure about this but I'm sure any lady at a beauty counter could tell you. I went with pink undertones anyway and the lightest shade 115. I think this is a really great match for my skin as I hardly need to blend it in to my neck.
Maybelline state that this is their first 'gel foundation' and that it has no waxes or fillers in it that can mask your skin. The translucent gel based formula is designed to merge flawlessly with your natural skin tone. I can agree with this, when I first applied it I thought it was very low coverage because it was such a light foundation. But 2 pumps is enough for amazing coverage - it really covers up any dark marks, redness or blemishes I have without completely masking my skin like other foundations I'm used to. It did take me a while to get used to seeing my skin with this foundation but it's been around a week now and I love how glowing it makes my skin look. I do need to wear a powder with it though, as after I while I do notice my t-zone and chin getting a little oily, but they're usually oily anyway.
I was surprised at how long this foundation stayed on my skin, I didn't have any high hopes for its staying power as it is so lightweight on the skin - but after a 9 hour day at work it still looked great in the evening. Impressive.
I did find it a little hard to apply at first, I was using my usual foundation brush the Bdellium 980, but found it was applying streaky and blending was difficult. I then switched to the Bdellium 957 and all these problems were gone.
This foundation has a lovely subtle scent to it, I can't really describe it but it reminds me of marshmallows a little bit! It smells really sweet, and I don't mind a little hint of scent on my foundation.
As of yet I haven't tried the Fit Me powder or concealer, but after reading some great reviews they're next on my list.

OOTD: Shopping

Faux Leather Jacket - New Look (really old), Top - Topshop, Jeans - Topshop, Belt - Dorothy Perkins, Shoes - ASOS, Hat - Topshop, Watch - Michael Kors
Hey everyone! This is just a quick post about what I wore to go shopping this weekend. I don't do outfit posts often because when I'm at work my outfits are usually really laid back and nothing special, so sometimes it's nice to make more of an effort and document it. :)
I went for a day shopping in the Yorkshire shopping centre Meadowhall, hence why I'm not wrapped up like a snowman! I bought the bowler hat a few weeks ago and this is the first time I've worn it - I really love how they look and I think hats can just transform a simple outfit into quite an edgy one.
I love the ASOS chelsea boots I wore - they're so comfy and finally I can be one of those girls that can wear heels during the day without toppling over after ten minutes yay!
The jeans are Topshop's Leigh jeans and they're the comfiest pairs I've ever worn, I seriously recommend them!

Gem Stone Nail Polishes: Rimmel and Andrea Fulerton

Hello! Now, as I'm sure a few of you will have guessed by now I have such a strong obsession with nail polish. I have a huge collection (with nowhere to put it) and it grows by the week. I just can't say no to pretty nail polishes! One of my friends (hi Maxine!) told me about these new colours by Rimmel - their new Precious Stones range. So obviously when I saw them I just HAD to buy them immediately.

I'm pretty sure there are only two shades in this small collection: Ruby Crush and Diamond Dust - two nail polishes with various sizes of coloured glitter and even bigger pieces of silver glitter, in two colours red and grey. In the photos you can see what the polishes look like with one and two coats. They're pretty much opaque with only two coats which is very impressive! I have a similar colour to Ruby Crush by Barry M and I swear it needs around five coats for full opacity. My favourite of the two is definitely Diamond Dust, I think it looks classy and elegant with a little hint of subtlety - perfect for any parties you might have coming up!

I only applied these yesterday so I'm not sure how long they'll last before chipping, but there are none as of yet! Rimmel polishes do tend to be of great quality (they're one of my favourite nail brands) but glitter polishes are notoriously easy to chip.

I also picked up another nail polish that is related to the theme of gem stones - the Andrea Fulerton Gem Stone Top Coat. I'd never heard of gem stone top coats until Fleur De Force posted about her favourite Autumn nails (featuring Zoya's Chloe) here. I loved the way it looked over Rimmel's Trend Spotting nail polish so when I spotted Andrea Fulerton's top coat I just had to buy it! Luckily, there was a 3 for 2 offer on in Superdrug so one of the Rimmel polishes was free. The gem stone top coat is basically a sheer top coat with suspended pieces of glitter than shimmers almost every colour imaginable - it's so pretty! In the photos above I'm wearing it with Andrea Fulerton's Julia and Barry M's Raspberry. I love both of these colour combinations for Autumn! I would definitely recommend this top coat.
