Hello you! I feel a little bit worried about this post, mainly the close up photograph of my eye area. I can usually go out in public without make up on aslong as I know I can avoid mirrors and just pretend to myself that I don't look like I've been in a boxing match. But posting a close up photograph of something that I am very self conscious about is scary. I have very dark skin around my eyes. It starts from below my eye, sort of like a bag and extends right up to my eyebrows. I have no idea why my eyes are like this, but I have an inkling that it's genetic because my mum's the same (my sister was the lucky one). As you can also see I have freckles too, but unless it's in summer when they look sort of cute I like to cover them up also.
I remember a few years ago when I was at university, I was living with a few males (as well as females) and when I went downstairs with a naked face, one of them asked me why I had two black eyes. He wasn't just making fun of me, but he genuinely thought I had black eyes! That's when I started to become more insecure.
Recently, I struggled with trying to find the perfect corrector/concealer to make my eyes look completely normal and have tested out so many products trying to do so! At one point I relied on Benefit's Lemon Aid, Erase Paste and Boing! to try and cover up my dark circles but they just weren't doing it for me. I know they're so hyped about but I found them really hard to apply - they were just too thick and trying to apply them to the delicate eye area made my eyes feel sore. Any other drug store brand just didn't last all day and I needed to keep reapplying, which is not ideal at work.
Then I decided to try out Bobbi Brown's corrector and instantly fell in love. I fell so in love that I purchased the whole Lift & Brighten range after a lovely sales assistant showed me how to use it properly and gave me the best make over ever. For the rest of the day I couldn't believe how much my dark circles had disappeared! The range includes a Hydrating Eye Cream, a Corrector, and a Creamy Concealer Kit (Creamy Concealer and powder). Let me apologise for the disgusting state I photographed my products in! At least you can tell they're well used, yes? You can see I've hit pan on them so it's proof of how much I love them!
The eye cream is very light and takes no time at all to sink in to the skin. It leaves my skin feeling very soft and awakened. It also ensures that my concealer doesn't budge for the majority of the day and helps with any dry areas or wrinkles that may be forming. I also noticed that it stops my concealer from gathering in my under eye wrinkles. The corrector and concealer are the stars of the show though, they're so creamy and pigmented that you only need a very tiny amount to cover your eye area so they will last you quite a long time. I use a brush to apply a small amount under my eyes and then use my ring finger to pat the product into my skin. After I've applied both the corrector and concealer I use a small brush to dust with a little bit of the powder, just so it sets my make up even more and takes away any shine the creamy products might give me under my eyes. The shades I wear are: Bisque (Corrector) and Beige (Concealer).
I really can't rave about these products enough, and I know that I'll keep repurchasing these for years to come because they're frickin' amazing! They have been my biggest makeup staple for the last few months.
