Review: Rimmel Apocalips Lip Lacquer

Hello you. I'm just posting about a fantastic new lip product that will be released in the UK on the 23rd January (but you can buy them now on their exclusive Facebook store)! This product is Rimmel's new Apocalips Lip Lacquers. I bought three shades, and swatched two of my sister's shades (in order of swatches above): 500 Luna, 400 Big Bang, 501 Stellar, 600 Nude Eclipse and 102 Nova.

The product is essentially a liquid lipstick/lipgloss hybrid, it's super pigmented, glossy and long lasting. I think they're a slight dupe for the YSL Glossy Stains but they're not meant to stain your lips. They do dry and become quite matte after a while but a quick re-application can fix this. I applied the shade Stellar, wore it for a few hours, drank a huge cup of tea and ate a sausage sandwich and the colour was still amazing on my lips. Seriously impressed. They're quite easy to apply, the doe foot applicator helps the product to glide on quickly and helps with precision. It also has a little well in the tip which stores the product so you can apply a few coats with only two dips! I did find the lighter, more nude shades a little harder to apply as I think my lips are a little too pigmented for them so they show up a bit streaky?

My favourite shades are Big Bang which is a bright red (very similar to the YSL Glossy Stain in no. 11) and Nova (which I need to buy because this was one of my sister's) which is a very bright candy pink which looks so nice on! Please forgive the swatch of Nude Eclipse on my lips, it looks terrible but only because it's on me! Nudes just don't suit me, they wash me out and I just can't get them to look nice. It does look really nice on my sister and on these swatches here. So don't let me put you off!

The packaging is really special too, I love how you can see the product inside so you can easily see the shade you want. The lid is really pretty too and reminds me of a gemstone or something similar. The product also smells really nice and a fruity - similar to their Kate Moss lipsticks.

These lip lacquers will be available on the 23rd January for £5.49. Will you be buying any?
